This couple are planning ahead for when their mobility may be compromised – so requested an accessible, low maintenance front garden.

They had awkward steps into the house, so by widening the entrance and adding a curved path this allowed for a gentle slope to be introduced and the steps eliminated.

We replaced their crumbling low wall with a safer/higher retaining wall and removed their troublesome lawn, replacing it with gravel and a feature brick circle.

The light gravel accentuates the planting which is mainly colourful evergreens, for year-round interest, and that require little or no attention. With the addition of carefully placed scented plants adjacent to the path this provides added pleasure when walking to the front door.

This definitely full-filled the brief of a low maintenance, accessible front garden.
