contemporary landscaping
Uxbridge
The client wanted to create different areas of the garden using contemporary landscaping ideas. He wanted a modern garden that could be used all year round and which would brighten up the dull uninspiring space.
A neighbour’s Watertower dominates the garden, which would be impossible to disguise, so instead, we embraced this and used it as the concept for the design; emulating it with 11 Hornbeam columns which echo the shape of the tower and also the colour with their lovely Autumnal hues.
These columns then act as a gentle divide, to create different compartments: the main patio, traditional lawn, additional seating area with a Firepit and finally a ‘Utility’ area for the washing, but this could also be used as another seating area at other occasions.
Contemporary landscaping materials of; porcelain, steel trellis, corten steel and an artificial green wall were used to brighten the area and disguise the many surrounding walls.
The Hornbeam shadows create drama and a water feature and lighting also give the garden a new dimension, especially in the evenings.
This garden won an APL Gold award in 2020.
