Garden design process

We can redesign your entire garden or just part of it. We can work with existing features or plants that you want to retain, or start from a clean slate. Our goal is to provide a flexible approach to suit your tastes, lifestyle and budget, following through a series of stages to complete your dream garden.

Click on the numbers below to take you through the processes involved……

Briefing meeting

We have an initial meeting to discuss your requirements in detail; talking through preferred design styles, hard landscaping preferences, features required, maintenance requirements and budget. If you have any images of styles, plants, furniture or features you like, it would be good to show these to us at this meeting. We then provide you with a briefing document based on everything that has been discussed.

Site survey

An accurate site survey is required of your garden as it currently exists. This establishes the position of existing features of the landscape area. This will be drawn up to scale to form a base upon which the garden design can develop and is also required by contractors for accurate quotations.

Masterplan

We will produce a scaled plan, based on the design brief and site analysis, showing the ideas researched for the garden including areas of hard landscaping, planting and any additional features to be included.

Construction details & tendering

To proceed with the garden we would then need to provide additional documents and drawings required for the implementation of the work and for contractors to produce quotations for the construction phase. All required construction drawings, suggested sources for hard materials, lighting plans, setting out plans and full specification documentation will be provided as tender documents for contractors. These also ensure that the design makes an accurate transition from plan to build.

Construction monitoring

Once the build begins, we offer a service to monitor the project, ensuring the design is being followed accurately as intended and constructed to the highest possible quality.

Planting plan & planting

Planting plans complement the Masterplan; indicating the exact species, location and quantity of all the chosen plants. Once the garden is built we can supply top quality plants from specialist nurseries at competitive prices, position them in their correct place and organise the planting. If your garden is already landscaped, or you have a border that needs refreshing, a separate quote can be provided for an individual planting plan.

Aftercare & advice

Although the build and planting has been completed a garden is continually evolving and we hope to be able to continue our relationship with it as it matures to keep it looking its best.
